Apostle Folorunso Alakija, Africa’s richest woman and billionaire oil mogul, has said that men, like women, deserve to be celebrated and supported.

This was stated by the philanthropist on Friday, November 19, when she joined the rest of the world in commemorating International Men’s Day.

“It’s International Men’s Day today. You might be wondering why we need a special day to celebrate men “she wrote.

“Suicide rates for men are much higher than women around the world, according to the World Health Organization.

“Men, like women, are bound by societal stereotypes and unrealistic expectations.

“In my opinion, men and women both need to be celebrated and supported.” Without an equal focus on both genders, a thriving society is impossible to achieve.

“I celebrate all the incredible men who offer as positive role models for youth and pillars of strength for their families and communities.”
